Yes. The City of Joliet, in coordination with IDOT and FHWA, is advancing the project through Phase I Engineering. The PEL study confirmed the need for a grade separation and identified the preferred overpass design.

Q: What is happening during Phase I?
The Phase I study focuses on refining the preferred alternative of the Laraway Road overpass of the UP RR. Phase I includes preliminary detailed engineering, environmental coordination, and stakeholder communication to prepare the project for future detailed design, construction and funding opportunities.
